3 March 2013: That K-Pop Swag (Or Maybe Not...)

(Deanna)

The Bad Luck Bears and our host siblings all decided to voyage shopping today and spend time together. For me, my day started out meeting up with everyone and then we walked in a street full of shops and knickknacks. We went into a marketplace where kabobs of all sorts were sold such as assorted fruits, pork, chicken, squid, crab, shrimp and so on. You could see people eating noodles and kabobs throughout and it only made us want to try everything. We each tried different things that we enjoyed. After each getting our kabobs and pastries and such we continued browsing the street of shops that interested us. We took group photos and watched a story of love, and death and admittedly we got confused about the story line because we couldn’t understand everything but it was entertaining! We went into McDonald’s to get lunch and I ordered lunch for my host sister and I in Chinese as best as I could and we proceeded to sit next to each other. I spent the lunch hour teaching my host sister Spanish words and phrases. She found some of the accents in Spanish challenging and she proceeded to teach me more phrases and words.

After lunch, we went into the mall called ”In Time” and saw various stores with apparel from the United States and then went to KTV. In KTV, The Bad Luck Bears refrained from singing but after one of the host siblings friends deciding to sing first, I decided to sing Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain”. I seemingly did well and enjoyed singing. After the other host sibling’s friends sang, Patty and I sang “Beauty and the Beat” and “Hotel California” and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was a few instances of people singing badly but we enjoyed the attempts. I spoke with my host sister Rong Danqing aka “Chocolate” about collaborating singing K-Pop in which she and I both danced and sang a song called “Lovey Dovey” but I didn’t know the whole dance so my dancing was quite low quality in reality but Chocolate’s dancing was fantastic! Performing K-Pop was fun but I ultimately was not the best at K-Pop due to my failing to know the language but Chocolate was sufficient in it thus K-Pop Swag or possibly no swag... After much singing, we all parted ways and Chocolate and I bonded even more over a haunted house that ended up not being scary and went home. The day was truly filled with fun and good eats. Tomorrow surely will be just as fun if not more!

Until next time,
Deanna
